Welcome, we are so excited about the school district’s plans for our future! We need your support for funding our education and attracting and retaining highly qualified teachers and staff!
We – the Jefferson Union High School District (JUHSD) School Board and Daly City City Council members – seek your input on plans for the future of the Serramonte Del Rey neighborhood site. We are launching a master plan to replace outdated facilities, which are no longer suitable for the school district or feasible for re-use. We plan to build out over time, starting with faculty and staff housing already under construction. Our goal is to create a walkable, bikeable, safe, family-friendly neighborhood with a shopping street, parks, and nature trails.

Our School Board is proposing an innovative plan to fund the future of student education and stabilize school district finances. The key to our success will be creating an urban neighborhood fiscally beneficial to the school district, Daly City, and the surrounding neighborhood.
JUHSD works diligently to continuously improve the quality of education: Our innovative proposal for funding utilizes the school district’s excess property at the Serramonte Del Rey neighborhood site to supplement the school district’s long-term revenue stream. With this additional funding, we will be able to continue to attract and retain the most talented teachers and staff for our children.

The District is struggling to maintain quality education and is at competitive disadvantage with other districts in San Mateo County. The District is losing 20% of our teachers every year and needs to minimize further deterioration of the quality of a JUHSD education.
The Board plans to attract investment and leverage development of rental housing on leased District lands to stabilize District revenues in the future. Improving the quality of education at our schools boosts neighborhood property values, as will new neighborhood serving retail and community, park and recreation facilities. New housing will increase City tax revenues. The District’s Master Plan will stabilize education funding and improve the quality of life for all of us – students, neighbors, and Daly City.
Please plan on joining us at a virtual citywide community meeting to be scheduled for mid-December 2020.
In December 2020, the project team held virtual meetings to give the community an opportunity to learn about the project, meet the team, ask questions, and provide feedback. If you would like to be notified of future outreach meetings, please provide your contact information HERE.
